Help, Im Skinny Fat!
Have u ever witnessed the following episode?
Girl A looks skinny. Her arms and legs are very thin. However, for some reason, she has a spare tyre around her waist.
So u begin to wonder if this girl is fat or skinny...
Let me enlighten u - She is both skinny and fat!
Skinny and fat???? *&&^*&^!@@#$#$#^!!!!!!!!!!
Okay, Im starting to hear people swear at me. How can one ever be skinny and fat? Its like telling me Im tall, but short. Or handsome but ugly.
Haa, it sounds that way. but being skinny fat is a very common phenomenom among many girls, especially those who are sedentary.
Let me 1st go through a few basic definations -
Skinny - it means your total body mass is very little as compared to your height
Fat - It means you are not lean.
Lean - It means your body fat level is low.
What are some examples of lean individuals?
The best examples are bodybuilders. Look at the pic i inserted in my earlier blog. There is a pro bodybuilder with very defined abs. This is called lean. It means your body fat level is low and that you can see the tone and cut on your muscles.
Now, let us return to girl A.
She is skinny, because her overall body mass is little as compared to her height. But she is fat because she has high level of body fats, as clearly illustrated by her spare tyre.
Guys, let me issue you a challenge:
The next time u observe an apparently skinny girl, skip staring at the 2 lumps of healthy fats in front of her body. Instead, depress your angle slightly, and zoom in on the abs. Chances are, when the girl is standing, it looks okie. But the crunch time comes when she starts to sit down. For this 1-2 seconds, u have to pay absolute attention. If this girl belongs to the skinny fat category, u are in a hell lot of shock. I'd rather not elaborate futher and let u have the experience .
Okay, what about some other tell-tale signs of skinny fat individuals?
1)If the person wears low cut jeans, observe the waist area, chances are something will bulge out.
2) When someone waves goodbye, observe the tricep. Chances are you'll observe alot of vibration.
3) Observe the armpit region when the dressing allows. (I mean observe, please dont smell!). If the clothing is slightly tight, some fats will be dangling.
4) Observe the legs. If someone looks rather thin in the upper body, but has rather huge legs.
5) This one is not as accurate: observe the neck region, especially when a person tucks in his/her chin. Fats deposits could be seen. But this method is not as good since some individuals have baby fats on their faces.
6) This one is meant to observe guys: Okay, a little weird, but it goes this way: If the guy wears a thin layered t-shirt, observe the nipple region. Often an individual with high body fats will tend to have rounded nipples (its actually not rounded, just that the deposits of fats makes it look round).
All right, I've listed most of the tell tale signs of a skinny-fat individual. Note that all these are my own observations throughout my recreational bodybuilding career. I was once skinny fat. No longer now. It takes alot of hardwork and dedication to get a lean body (remember my previous entry?).
Bottom line of this entry: Not for u to go round looking for skinny fat people and start mocking at them, but for u to be aware that skinny-fat people do exists. If u yourself happen to be skinny fat, then please stop thinking you're still very skinny and have the freedom to eat more. The more you eat, the bigger your spare tire will become. For these individuals, they need weight training to increase their overall mass and a series of cardio workouts to reduce the body fats. Its far too intricate to explain in a paragraph or 2, so I'll leave it to perhaps another entry.
